The recto of the first leaf of this book reads, "Philip Evans's Book, 1793." The verso of the first leaf reads, "Philip Evans his book, but also Hannah Evans." Nothing is known about these individuals. The volume contains both handwritten and clipped recipes for breads, puddings, biscuits, and cakes. It also includes remedies, several pages of which bear the word "Philadelphia," written in script on the bottom.
