Description
Lemuel Armistead Corbin (1824-1907), of Culpeper County, Virginia, married Mary ("Mollie") Coons (1838-1910) in 1858 and served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. During his life he variously worked as a merchant, a land agent, and a farmer. His account and receipt book, which is mostly given over to farm accounts, includes recipes for pickling, alcoholic drinks, and desserts that were gathered by his wife Mollie. The book also contains a list of maxims and some clippings.
