Description
This recipe book was collected by the Concord Antiquarian Society in 1950 and came into the possession of the Concord Free Public Library around 1970, when the library acquired the Concord Antiquarian Society's entire collection of manuscripts, printed ephemera, and books and pamphlets. The book is thought to have originated within the Harris family, likely of Concord, Massachusetts, and to date from around 1816-1817.

The book is written from both the front and back. The material written from the front is headed "Mrs. F. Baker's Domestick Cookery. Sweet Dishes." Some of the recipes in this section are glued into the volume by the edge of the sheet, pasted onto pages, or loosely inserted, and some of these recipes may have been clipped from printed sources rather than handwritten. (The catalog record does not say.) A recipe for Twelfth Cake that is glued in at the end of this section is inscribed on the back, "Nancy B. Ingell."

The material written from the back of the volume is headed "Materia Medica Pharmacopeia. Domestick Dispensary." All of the recipes in this section are medical and are pasted onto pages.

This book is located in Series I, Box 2, Folder 39 of the collection.
