Description
The leather cover of this small ruled notebook bears the title "Receipt book, Jan'y 21st, 1852" and the author's name, Kate Hall (possibly "Hill"). The book mostly focuses on desserts, cakes, and breads but also includes instructions for pickling beef, curing hams, and other savory foods. Some loose sheets of medical recipes are laid in the volume, and newspaper clippings containing recipes and household advice have been pasted on the inside front and back covers.
